The cracker basket was one of the first oblong baskets that I made. As it name suggests it may find use as a convenient basket for crackers or candy. While not a complex design it has taken me many years to perfect the technique of finishing the basket. Upon stitching sides of an oblong basket warping or twisting occurs. To make it flat and symmetrical I employed various methods to compensate for the warping after applying a finish. My current process requires the base to be nailed to a board and the sides held in place by props until the finish is dry.
The base of the basket is 8 3/4" by 3 1/2", the top is 13" by 5" and is 2" high.
